Joshua Nat. Pk. Feb 25th - Mar 1st. 17 to 26 deg. last two days very windy
After getting stuck while looking for the perfect campsite, the truck was filthy, so off to find a car wash. Consulting Google, we found one down in Coachella. We decided to take the Box Canyon Rd to Mecca, then on to Coachella. The layers and rock striations in this canyon are incredible. Some pictures but they don't do it justice.
We found the Quick Quack Car wash, then on to Walmart. This is the first Walmart that I have seen that is just groceries. Very nice. Pat bought more oranges at a road side vendor and a huge container of fruit cocktail, he made it on the spot, yum. Back to the BLM Our site.As you can see, the weather has changed, cloudy and windy, still warm though.
Feb. 28th we drove through Joshua Nat. Pk to 29 Palms. there are lots of campgrounds in the park but you would be hard pressed to get a site big enough to fit any kind of trailer, let alone one our size. It is beautiful though.
A close up of a Ocotilla in leaf and it's flower. Most of the time there are no leaves, so it is a treat to see them. They are water dependent for leafing and flowering, not seasonal.
Looking over 29 Palms
Then we drove up to Key View look out. Here is looking over the Coachella Valley and Indio area. It was very hazy, dust from the wind? With some smog from LA?We are staying put for today, hoping the wind will die down. Looks like it starting to, lets hope. Almost looks like it might rain, still warm though, so that is good.
On the move tomorrow.
