Bothe-Nappa Valley St. Pk. Jan. 7th - 9th. Yay, sunny and warm. 7 to 19 deg.

 Our stop for the night was Richardson Grove RV park. A couple of miles back there is a state park but the sites are too small for us to fit in. We found that out the last time we came through here. Nothing special about the RV park but it is at the right location for our trip and there is a fuel station just out by the highway.

 

 Our route January 8th on a beautiful warm sunny day. The first part of 128 is very windy and up and down. Vehicles over thirty feet, not recommended, whoops. I didn't have any trouble.

Bothe-Nappa St. Pk. is very old and the sites are small, we did find one I could shoe horn in. Quite unlevel but we prevailed and got set up. There are no services other than garbage and nice wash, shower rooms but all in all a nice park. There are trees and big rocks behind the trailer.



Yes, that tree is in front of the trailer, a bit of jockeying to get it in and out. it is nice and quiet, peaceful and very pretty. 

Jan. 9th 6 - 24 deg. 

Today we took a drive to St. Helena, a very quaint tourist town, lots of old buildings.



There are hundreds and hundreds of wineries here, we are just north of Napa. This is Beringer Vineyards. An awesome estate.
Next is the CIA, Culinary Institute of America. Another awesome estate, although we were a little disappointed. We thought we would have lunch there but it seamed that the food places were not open yet. The fancy restaurant may have been but we were not in the mood for fancy.


Lunch ended up at Mexican place in Calistoga.
  

A confession, when we were in Grayland, a road side vender gave Pat a bunch of apples. Knowing we had to cross into California, she quartered and cored them. When we go to the border, I was asked if we had any fresh fruit, not thinking I said no. She said have a nice day, as we were going down the hwy I said, Oh Crap, I lied about the apples. Oh well, no harm, no fowl. Now we had to do something about these apples. We bought some puff pastry and I made turnovers when we got back from our exploring today. I haven't tasted one yet but they look good.

For those of you that have been laying in bed at night wondering what the final count was, here you go.  lol  All in all, other than the engine, it was a good trip. Some good weather and some not so good. We saw some new places and visited some of our old favourites. It is unlikely that we will go that far south again but you never know. The mileage above is kilometres.  This summer we will stick closer to home in BC. In May we will go the Grand Forks, then explore around there for a few days, July a get together with the kids at Fawn Lake in the Caribou. Then a trip somewhere in the fall. Winter trip done.

Trip North to home Mar. 20th - 24th. Cool rain, rain and rain.

 Not very eventful, did see a herd of Elk in Oregon. First night we stayed at Blue Ox RV Park, near Albany, very nice. Big wide sites, lots of shrubs and trees, very tidy. Next was Midway RV Park near Centralia Wash. I was contemplating getting fuel before heading to the RV park but decided to fuel up in the morning. Good thing, they only had overflow parking available and that is only two sites. They park you in the road along side the wash house, power and water is supplied. Another trailer pulled in after us and took the last spot. If I had stopped for fuel, we might have had to move on. We were happy to get this site. The topper is saggy because of the rain, looks nice but it rained most of the night. Next up the drive through Seattle, not my favourite but necessary. Bumper to bumper for awhile but we made it through to Bay View St Pk. We were warned not to let Jack out without a leash when we were here on our way down. Boice-cope Pk., Oregon Jan. 3rd - 4th Same weather as before, with hail for good measure.

Our route so far. Boice-Cope is a beautiful county park, we are going to spend the day here. Last night it was quiet and dark,with no one right beside us, awesome. We have water and power, there are showers and there is a washer dryer for use. We don't use any of those but it is nice to see these amenities. Fairly open but a lot of space between sites.This has been the best campground so far. Oh, and it was only $20.00 US, until now, we have been paying $37.00 US plus a 25% surcharge for being a non-resident. Ouch. We just found out the price changed on Jan. 1st to $30.00, we owed another twenty but he would only take ten extra for tonight. We only saw the signage for the old price. A photo of the campground.
